The Northern School of Daoist Studiesat Leeds Metropolitan University and Manchester Academy for Transpersonal Studies
General Secretary Dr Elliot Cohen The Institute is dedicated to furthering the dialogue between Daoism, Psychology and Psychotherapy. The nature of this dialogue is one of mutual respect, recognising the respective cultural context of each discipline. Although having a scholarly base the institute welcomes contributions from non-academics and practitioners of Daoist cultivation (i.e. Daoyin, Neidan, Qigong, Tai Chi). One particular emphasis is the roles and relationships of internal alchemy to Transformational and Psychonautic Psychologys e.g. Transpersonal and Integral. Another emphasis is the recognition of, and attempt to move beyond, certain dualistic tendencies inherent in Western thought and Western Psychology.
